King Roland gives Sofia the Amulet of Avalor, which lets her talk to animals—she befriends Clover the rabbit and the birds Mia and Robin—and can summon other princesses for help. The royal sorcerer Cedric tries to steal the amulet to overthrow the family, but he grows close to Sofia and eventually confesses his plans with remorse.
In the third season, Sofia’s Aunt Tilly gives her a magical book leading to a secret library of unfinished stories, which Sofia must give happy endings. In the fourth season, another book takes her to the Mystic Isles, where all magic comes from. She saves the Isles from the crystal master Prisma and trains to become the Protector of the Ever Realm. Prisma later frees the sorceress Vor using the “Wicked Nine,” but Sofia defeats Vor in the series finale and officially becomes the Protector.
